How I ended up studying Content Strategy
In September 2021 a new adventure started for me: I started studying Content Strategy at FH Joanneum in Graz, Austria and started this blog to document the journey.
If you’re new here, welcome! I’m Filiberto, a trained geek and content creator with a background in video making, photography and design. In the past two years, I have been working as a freelancer creating content for different companies, and I could not help but notice the lack of a strategic approach when it comes to content creation.
Companies spend millions on creating a huge amount of content that is not used to its full potential and is not focused on their actual business goal or is not really relevant for their audience. There is certainly a need for a strategic approach to content creation and management, and this led me to look for ways to continue my education in the field of digital and strategic marketing.
Googling led me to discover a MA course in Content Strategy, and it did not take me much time to decide that I wanted to apply! I knew nothing about content strategy, but it was clear that the course hits a sweet spot between content and marketing. The course is mostly online and is part-time, allowing me to keep working while studying… and the cost is 0€! Sounds too good to be true?
Fast forward to today, I just wrapped up on my first semester! A lot happened, the course is intense and keeping up is not for the faint-hearted 🤯. Some courses were great, others were boring, some projects were never-ending, others were slipped away too fast. However, what really stood out is the amazing group of students I joined: in just a few weeks we became a multidisciplinary team, where everyone shared their skills contributing to the countless group exercises we worked on.
Now we’re already full-blast in the second semester. Stay tuned for some insights from what I would like to define as my learning adventure in the jungle of the digital world 🤠
